Below are some links to some of our favorite venues. Most of these places are either free or have a very modest cover charge. Many are non-smoking. Some are commerical, and some are run strictly by volunteers. In any event, all have one thing in common: they regularly present some of the most talented folk/acoustic musicians/bands in the Tri-State area. Check them out!
Of course, our favorite venue is the Leo Coffeehouse which is held at the Founder's Hall of the Zion Church of Christ in Norwood every Sunday night from September through May. There are generally three acts per evening. The first, third and fifth (if there is one) Sunday of each month has an open mike for the first half hour. Leo Coffeehouse has been hosting local talent in the Cincinnati area since 1963!
Time: 7PM Cover: $3 (includes coffee and snacks--free to QCB members) Non-smoking
The Music Cafe is a volunteer-supported coffeehouse-style event that occurs the fourth Tuesday of each month. The Music Cafe is generally held in Hamilton, Ohio at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts. During the summer months, it occasionally moves to the Ampitheater on the Village Green in Fairfield, a beautiful outdoor pavilion. There is always plenty of variety in the five 25-minute performances each evening.
Time: 7PM Cover: Free (coffee and snacks available -- donations welcome) Non-smoking
Here are some links to other venues that feature acoustic music in the Cincinnati area:
Rohs St. Cafe - in Clifton, near Univ. of Cincinnati, has a coffeehouse atmosphere.
The Southgate House - in Newport, Kentucky. Has a wide variety of bands ranging from rock to country. Occasionally has some quality folk acts as well.
The Twentieth Century Theatre - in Oakley. Will occasionally have outstanding folk acts such as Tom Paxton and Loudon Wainwright III
